Summary or Abstract

|
The purpose of this dissertation was to examine the concept of dialogic communication in the educational philosophies of Martin Buber and Paulo Freire, and to determine possible applications of their concept of dialogue to Southern Baptist-related theological education in Latin America.Chapter 1 was an analysis of Buber's dialogical principle. Biographical information was presented to indicate early influences on the philosophy which Buber later developed. An overview of Buber's dialogic philosophy was developed to provide background for a more thorough investigation of the dialogical principle. Finally, the dialogical principle was related to Buber's thoughts on education, with special attention given to secular, Christian, and theological education..
