The purpose of this research was to answer the question: Do the majority of California school principals have a philosophy of education that reflects ideological orientation towards the culture of technology, or do they have an educational philosophy that cherishes a genuine respect for individual and social differences as well as the rich cultural diversity which characterizes the reality of American society? This question was answered through a mail survey of 156 California school principals who responded to a questionnaire consisting of 25 situational questions related to their educational preferences and 12 personal data questions about types of schools they represent and their backgrounds..
