Summary or Abstract : This quantitative investigation is the first attempt to examine relationships between personality domains, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and transformational leadership styles. This study is also the first attempt to develop such research in a developing country. Four well-known instruments that had been translated into Spanish, namely, the NEO PI-R, WGCTA, MSCEIT, and MLQ, were used. Peruvian managers' personality domains of extraversion and conscientiousness demonstrated the strongest and most consistent correlations to transformational leadership styles followed by openness to experience and neuroticism. The final model developed indicated that agreeableness, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence had no significant effects on transformational leadership styles. Personality traits were the most important aspects for influencing transformational leadership styles. The extraversion and conscientiousness personality domains may encourage individuals to emerge as leaders..
