Summary or Abstract : My study is about the founding, development, organization, and achievement of the College of Chinese Studies (CCS), Beijing (then Peking) and the California College in China Foundation (CCCF), California. The College, which had developed into a world center of studies on China, was the earliest institution for Westerners in China to study the Chinese language and culture. The Foundation was established to promote studies on China in the United States. These integrated organizations served as an early model of effective cross-cultural postsecondary education between China and America..
