Summary or Abstract : When it comes to talking to teens about sex in this country, everybody has an opinion. The issue has become a national debate--between those who want to teach abstinence only until marriage and those who believe teens should learn more about sex than just how to wait. According to a survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation, nearly six out of 10 high school principals describe their education as comprehensive--meaning it includes lessons on topics like birth control, safe sex and sexually transmitted diseases. And about one-third of those principals said their school's curriculum was abstinence-only. Almost every school teaches some form of sex education, but what exactly is being said--and shown--in these classrooms?.
