Summary or Abstract
:
During the six and a half years of military occupation of Japan (September 1945 to April 1952) after the Second World War, the U.S. occupation forces carried out information dissemination campaigns through mass media to spread democratic ideals and to eradicate militarism and excessive nationalism from Japan. Such campaigns were based on the "re-education and reorientation policy" for occupied Japan, developed by the State Department during the war..
