Summary or Abstract : The present qualitative study analyzed archival data collected from four mother-preschooler dyads involved in a larger quantitative study of the effects of child-parent psychotherapy intervention on those exposed to domestic violence. The first dyad is a 25 year old Mexican-Italian American woman and her 3 year, 1 month old daughter. The second dyad is a 33 year old Filipino woman and her 3 year old daughter. The third dyad is a 40 year old African-American woman and her 4 year, 7 month old daughter. The fourth dyad is a 42 year old Caucasian woman and her 2 year, 2 month old son. All the mothers experienced traumatic life events periodically throughout their lives to differing degrees of frequency and severity. All the children either personally experienced domestic aggression, witnessed domestic aggression, or were both personal victims and witnesses..
