Summary or Abstract : This study explores the role of culture in both the interpretation of personality assessment tests and the evaluation of psychological functioning. As psychological tests are generally normed on moderately educated, Anglo-Americans, use of these tests with culturally different individuals may prove misleading and misrepresentative of their psychological functioning. At present, there have not been attempts to standardize psychological tests to reflect the culture of the population being studied. Until such restandardization occurs, it is encumbent upon psychologists to be familiar with their clients' culture in order to appropriately assess their psychological functioning and to interpret their test results. This study attempts to begin that process..
