Summary or Abstract : The present study examined psychological variables which may contribute to the frequently high rates of premature treatment termination among sex offenders. A review of the literature for both sex offenders and substance abusers suggested that variables reflecting greater severity of psychopathology, greater evidence of antisocial personality disorder, and greater defensiveness were moderately associated with premature termination from group therapy programs. Several hypotheses for the present study were derived from this literature review..
