Summary or Abstract : This paper represents the culminating project for my Master of Liberal Arts Degree at SUNY Empire State College. It presents the curriculum design and rationale for the creation of a sophomore-level community college English course entitled "Sports and Literature." In the first section, it introduces compelling reasons why sports literature provides an effective pedagogical tool for college instructors to teach the writing and thinking skills necessary for literary analysis.
