Summary or Abstract : Since the Depression, there has been interest in the extent to which unemployment causes significant mental health problems. In spite of considerable work done in this area, no clear and generally accepted understanding has yet been achieved as to the nature and degree of unemployment's impacts on mental health or even whether significant effects exist at all. What's more, in spite of a consensus that unemployment affects mental health (if at all) through a network of causal forces, virtually no causal model had been estimated or interpreted..
