Summary or Abstract : The Experiential Therapy Adherence Measure (ETAM), which describes therapist in-session conduct was tested to see whether it accurately measured an integrative experiential approach to therapy. It was found that using ETAM, raters were able to identify process-experiential therapy (P/E) when it was being executed. They were also able to differentiate it from both brief dynamic therapy (B/D) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (C/B) on five-minute transcripts of therapy segments. Ninety-three percent of the P/E therapy interventions were rated as one of the specific therapist actions on ETAM, while 70 of the B/D interventions were rated as B/D actions and 89 of the C/B interventions were rated as C/B actions. (Abstract shortened by UMI.).
