Summary or Abstract : The historical data of the decreasing divorce rate during the time that church attendance was decreasing shows a discrepancy with the current research in the correlation of church attendance and increased marital satisfaction. The current proposed study will investigate the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between church attendance and marital satisfaction and stability. The participants include 119 married male and female couples between the ages of eighteen and fifty living in an urban community in east Texas. The participants are randomly selected and asked to complete a close-ended questionnaire designed by the researcher to assess the independent variable, church attendance, the dependent variable, stability, and the areas of religious affiliation, gender, age, income level, current marital status, length or time married, how many times married and if married two times or more the length of their current marriage. To assess the other dependent variable, marital satisfaction, the participants will complete the 14-item Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale. The study is correlational in design. The Pearson r is used to determine the extent to which the variables are correlated to one another..
