Summary or Abstract : Creative thinking helps people cope with advances, opportunities, technologies, and diversities, and has become increasingly important in educational settings. The primary objective of this international study was to discover if there was a correlation between creativity and (1) teaching beliefs, (2) learning experiences, and (3) achievement. This quantitative study searched for links between creativity and either the more process-oriented teaching perspectives, or the more product-oriented teaching perspectives. The study attempted to identify if any specific perspective of teaching helped in developing creativity. Teaching beliefs, learning experiences, academic achievement, and creative performance of student teachers in the United States and Taiwan were compared. Participants were tested for creative thinking with the Abbreviated Torrance Test for Adults (ATTA), and reported their own beliefs about teaching and their previous learning experiences in K-12 schooling in a questionnaire based on the Teaching Perspective Inventory (TPI)..
