Summary or Abstract : The metaphoric term, white water describes the economic, political, and technological forces that have brought about dramatic changes in business environments worldwide. These changes have not left the manager's role untouched. How do Israeli managers of high tech firms perceive their changed environments, and how do they cope with their altered realities? Answers to these questions are the focus of this research. The literature offers two main approaches to white water environments: (1) The simplification approach, which tends to reduce the analytical process to limited sources of information and to narrow alternatives and options; and (2) complification, a more complex approach to decision-making that tends to take into consideration more information, to process and implement more complex system ingredients while considering alternative relationships between them..
