Summary or Abstract : The relation between bulimic symptomatology and the five-factor model of personality was explored using two groups of female subjects comprising a clinical and control group. Using the Structured Clinical Interview for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Eating and Body-Image Edition (SCID-EABI), and the Goldberg Adjective Inventory, the relationship between bulimic symptoms and personality were explored. The clinical and control groups contained 25 and 26 subjects respectively, with mean ages of 23 and 25 years. Results of the study showed a significant positive relationship between bulimic symptoms and neuroticism in the whole and clinical groups, as well as a significant negative relationship between bulimic symptoms and agreeableness in the whole and clinical groups. As expected, no significant relations were found involving bulimic symptoms in the control group. Relationships among the five personality factors are also explored..
