Summary or Abstract : Four-hundred and seven college students rated targets on each of the Big Five personality factors using Goldberg's Bipolar Inventory (GBI) and an adapted form of the NEO Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). Photographic stimuli were used to eliminate behavioral cues and identify how target facial attractiveness influences perceivers' expectations of personality. Physically attractive individuals were perceived to be more Extraverted and Emotionally Stable than unattractive individuals. The GBI showed attractive individuals were thought to possess greater Intellect than attractive individuals, but no relation was found between attractiveness and Openness to Experiences as measured by the NEO-FFI. Attributions of Agreeableness and Conscientiousness could not be predicted by physical attractiveness. The results aligned closely with the person perception literature by showing that the strength of the "beauty is good" stereotype depends on what factor is studied..
