Summary or Abstract : The purpose of this investigation was to explore the relationships between selected social cognitive factors and vocational behavior. The social cognitive factors used in this study were self-monitoring (Snyder, 1974), location of identity (Sampson, 1978), and locus of control (Rotter, 1966). These variables represent independent aspects of social cognition that measure differences in the way in which individuals attend, perceive, categorize, and assess internal and external events (Landman & Manis, 1983). The variables used to examine the career decision-making process include career decisiveness (Osipow et al., 1980), vocational maturity (Thompson et al., 1981), and decision-making styles (Harren, l980)..
