Summary or Abstract : Globalization and technological advancement have transformed the world of work and given rise to new career development models that characterize 21 st century careers as knowledge-based, discontinuous, more lateral than vertical, and employer-independent. One such model, that of the boundaryless career , suggests that careers are no longer constrained by organizational boundaries, but rather, are individually situated and much more fluid, unfolding across multiple employment settings and hence boundaryless. Individuals working within a boundaryless career environment may need to reappraise their constructs of career and career success in order to find value and meaning in their working lives. They may also need to acquire career self-management competencies that engender greater adaptability to changing employment contexts and a strengthened sense of self as a marketable commodity..
