Summary or Abstract : The purpose of the current phenomenological qualitative study, integrated treatment for coexisting substance abuse and psychiatric disorders, was to explore how the culture of CMHC determined treatment models and program services to provide integrated, comprehensive treatment services for consumers with dual disorders. Data was collected during open-ended interviews with 17 participants. The data were analyzed following van Kaam's method of analysis whereby four major themes emerged (Moustakas, 1994): ineffective treatment program, lack of communication, clients' behaviors influence treatment services and lack of specialized educational training. The results were based on describing the lived experiences from professional staff at CMHC regarding barriers and supports to establishing an organizational culture that supports the structures and programs to provide integrated treatment services..
