Summary or Abstract : Over the years, couples therapies focusing on attachment processes have demonstrated effectiveness in improving distressed marital relationships. To establish an understanding of current marital trends, dynamics of emotion regulation and attachment within the marital dyad, and how Project Adventure's experiential format may be used to enhance positive marital attachment, this author reviewed the literature surrounding marital quality, longevity, and attachment processes; marriage education efficacy; the unique needs associated with distressed married couples; and experiential education. The information was then synthesized into a manual for marriage education practitioners who seek a modality that meets the needs of conflicted couples and the agency in which they seek services..
