Summary or Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to examine the spatial diffusion of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), the adoption or rejection of these technologies among educators in Puerto Rico, the potential factors contributing to change their perspectives towards the use of technologies as part of their teaching, and the potential impacts on students' productivity. This empirical investigation uses qualitative and quantitative data to support its findings. Chi-square analysis is applied to examine the factors in Carolina and San Juan, Puerto Rico contributing to the digital divide. The study relies on four main variables to evaluate these differences among teachers in the two areas selected. These characteristics are the spatial location of the schools, age, and educational level completed by educators. The results showed that variables have an important role to play in the diffusion of ICTs among educators. These factors ultimately affect students' performance at the academic as well as the professional stage..
